Welcome, I'm Tricia
Tricia Johnson BSL tutor
 
I am qualified BSL NVQ level 3 and have completed BSL Level 6 BSL training. I am a qualified teacher who has been working in educations since 2001 initially for the local Adult Education provider in West Sussex, I have also taught British Sign Language for; Chichester Colleges Group (Chichester and Northbrook college), Chichester University Students Union, along with running my own private courses I have also taught Adults with Learning Difficulties. During my time teaching BSL I have taught Beginners taster sessions, Introduction to BSL, Level 1 and Level 2 Signature qualification courses.
 
I ran a Communication Club in West Sussex for 6 years, where I led level 1 and 2 homework groups, practise sessions, signed karaoke and organised Deaf and Hard of Hearing events. I have worked as a Communication Support Worker (CSW) for Northbrook College Worthing, Chichester College Chichester and Aspire Sussex Ltd. (formally West Sussex County Council Adult and Community Education). I have also worked in a BSL Personal Support role on a regular basis for the Independent Living Association.
 
I run Deaf Awareness corporate training events, some of my clients have been; Horizon Leisure Centres, GSK (Glaxo SmithKline), Aspire Sussex ltd, Harbour Park Amusements, Chichester University, DMH Stallard LLP and Southsea Cinema. I also give talks about BSL and Deaf Awareness to local groups and clubs.
 
I love to teach and am happy to teach students of all ages. I adapt my teaching to suit individual learning styles as required. I like to keep my sessions relaxed and friendly, while maintaining a good standard of tuition and language acquisition.
