1 to 1 Lessons
In person or Online
In your home or via Zoom
I will support students at any level, these lessons are suitable for students who would like to progress at their own speed.
You are welcome to suggest topics of interest but as a rough guide -

Beginners will focus on: Fingerspelling, basic introductions, giving and receiving personal information in simple conversations.

Beginner plus will focus on: building a sign vocabulary in topics such as; people, colours, places, transport and weather.

Improvers will focus on: expanding their vocabulary and incorporating BSL structure such as; word order and placement within their signing.
Each lesson will last a total of 60 minutes. Lessons can be booked individually or as a set over several weeks.

Unit completion certificates can be offered if required.

Level 1 exam qualification

This is only for the exam.

This exam qualification is divided into three units, each of which can be achieved separately.
Learners should sit the BSL101 exam first, then sit the exams BSL102 and BSL103.
Exams 102 and 103 can be taken in any order.
BSL101 - Introduction to BSL
BSL102 - Conversational BSL
BSL103 - Communication in BSL about Everyday Life

Beginners & Continuation
Tuesday's term time
Broadwater Campus
On this friendly and relaxed 10 week course you will cover topics such as; Fingerspelling, basic greetings and exchanging personal information.
You will learn how to use numbers, describe days, time and discuss the weather.
During the course we will cover basic Deaf awareness and find out what makes British Sign Language so special.
Beginners - This course is suitable for complete beginners; those with little or no experience.
Continuation - This course is suitable for those students who have completed the Beginners course or who have previously studied BSL and need to 'brush-up' their skills after a long absence.
